]]>Restrictions and measures meant our popular event - the Saturday Night Skate, have to be put on hold.
Thankfully, we were able to resume the night skate in 2022 after a 3-year hiatus.
We promptly launched the 'round-island' project, planning our skating routes to cover the circumference of Singapore. And we kick-started the project right from the heart of Singapore in May 2022 with a 12km route from ION Mall in Orchard Road to the National Stadium in Kallang, with a staggering attendance of more than 90 skating enthusiasts to support the event.
We named the event 'Homecoming Night Skate' to mark the resumption of this significant event for the skating community. See video below.
Route 1: Orchard to National Stadium
The concept of the round-island plan is for each night skate route to start from the ending point from the previous night skate and we headed towards the east, completing a 20km route from the National Stadium to Changi Airport via the Dinosaur Mile - one of the latest features of Changi Airport which features static fugures of some of the most popular dinosaur species. See video below.
Route 2: National Stadium to Changi Airport
Next, we completed a grueling 30km route from Changi Airport to Pasir Ris White Sands Mall, via the Coastal Park Connector Network. This route features the beautiful Changi Bay Point which resembles Jeju Island of Korea, and the Changi Village district, most well known for its array of delicacies from the eateries. See video below.
Route 3: Changi Airport to White Sands Mall
Moving on next was a 25km route from Pasir Ris White Sands Mall to Yishun Northpoint City in the northern part of the island. The route takes us through the heartlands of Pasir Ris, Punggol, Ang Mo Kio and Yishun. See video below.
Route 4: White Sands Mall to Northpoint City
We took a break from the round-island route in October for our highly anticipated event of the year - The Halloween Night Skate! Perhaps one of the biggest masquerade inline party, the event welcomed scored of skating enthusiasts cosplaying a variety of Halloween characters, from Grim Reapers to Zombies, and we paraded through town!
In November, we resumed our round-island plan and traveled from Yishun and headed towards the west to Choa Chu Kang estate. The 15km journey comprised of various MRT stations along the North-south line of our SMRT's network with exhilarating downhill rides along Woodlands Road after Kranji station. See video below.
Route 5: Northpoint City to Lot 1 Mall
The journey from Yishun to Choa Chu Kang was the finale for our SNS for 2022, as we break for Christmas in December and Chinese New Year in January. We shall continue with the round-island plan in February 2023.
WeSkate thank all the supporters and skating enthusiasts who have attended our Night Skates and we look forward to more skating memories with you in 2023!

]]>WeSkate recently concluded our first ever Family Day event with a skate tour around Marina Bay Sands. Students from our regular group classes and skate camps graced the event with their family, with some of the fathers skating with their children too. Weather was splendid and the scenery around was picture perfect.

Lead by Coach Jon, together with skate volunteers Florence and Fang Fang, our entourage headed towards The Merlion, passing by The Promontory @ Marina Bay Sands and One Fullerton.

Children were hyped up to see the Merlion and for their very first time, to skate on this scenic location and parents grabbed the chance to capture the moments on their camera phones.

Next we backtracked to Marina Bay Sands and headed in the opposite direction towards Gardens by the Bay, passing by The ArtScience Museum. Our destination was The Flower Dome and Cloud Forest and we were greeted by the refreshing cool air from the air conditioning of the complex which was ideal with the scorching hot weather.
Taking a short break under the shade
It was satisfying to witness our students putting the skills that they had learnt from their classes to good use and applying them well throughout the journey. And we are glad that this event will give the participants a wonderful memory.
